Compare the cost beyond installation
List servicing, batteries, call-out charges and any exclusions alongside the purchase price. Ask who holds replacement parts and how assistance is arranged for your postcode. Keep those terms with the quotation for a like-for-like comparison.
On the day
Agree access, the work area and any temporary interruption to using the stairs. Ask the installer to show how to call the chair, use the belt and controls, fold components and park it for charging. Keep the operating instructions and Acorn's actual support contact.
Aftercare in writing
Compare servicing schedules, battery cover, parts, labour, travel charges and assistance hours. Ask who attends your exact postcode and how a fault is reported. A national service description is not evidence of a particular local response time.
If circumstances change
Keep the model and installation records. Ask Acorn how removal, relocation or reuse would be assessed and charged. A change of staircase may need a new rail; do not assume a chair or rail can be moved without a fresh professional assessment.
